GPE PIM sync
GPE PIM is a suit of calendar/contatcs (and more) application for nokia 770, which natively lacks one. I’ve been able to make it sync with various other programs in kubuntu feisty (any ubuntu or debian unstable should work), since there is not much docs about it I’m writing here some notes. Basical steps (to explain in detail when I have more time)
Dowload gpesyncd for your 770
Dowload opensync for ubuntu, in particular you need the plugin for kdepim and gpe. Get them using this sources:
deb http://opensync.gforge.punktart.de/repo/opensync-0.21/ feisty main
deb-src http://opensync.gforge.punktart.de/repo/opensync-0.21/ feisty main
Recompile kdepim plugin from scratch using apt-get build-deps and dpkg-buildpackage, since feisty has some problems with compiled version.
msynctool –addgroup calendar
msynctool –addmember calendar gpe-sync
msynctool –addmember calendar kdepim-sync
msynctool –configure calendar 2
My config file says use_local:0, use_ssh=1, ip=192.168.11.33, port=6446, user=user
with use_ssh you tell myconfd that no server is running on the 770, if you have ssh configured for user “user” (with ssh public keys, without password) it will login in the IP you tell him and run gpesyncd.
msynctool –sync calendar
Right now it is working properly but I will test it in the next few days. This will keep GPE sync’ed with Kontact/Kalendar, if you add more plugins and create more groups (man msynctool) you could sync it with evolution, a directory (this is useful for backup), or anything else supported by opensync. I’ve tried the sunbird plugin, to sync it with lightning but it doesn’t seem working properly together with gpe.
